History

The Ganda Foundation was established during 2009 by Denis Mugagga, Craig Pruess and Daniel Sewagudde of the GANDA BOYS music group to bring First World awareness to some of the dire conditions existing in the Third World. The Ganda Boys’ songs have always expressed unity, peace and harmony (“One Love”, “Sunshine on Africa”) – besides also portraying the suffering of impoverished people – (“Reach Out Your Hand”, “Kadogo – Warchild”). www.gandaboys.com

To show the commitment to social programmes, the Ganda Boys decided to form the Ganda Foundation, a non-profit, charitable organisation to help the needy. Musicians in the past have often taken a lead on urgent social issues, including the efforts of Band Aid, Live Aid and Live Eight to fight poverty in Africa. The joyous, uniting and moving music of the Ganda Boys has created a new drive for the new decade — a timeless message of compassion, truth and caring. You are invited to be part of this project.

In 2009, additional inspiration came from Ugandan trips by both Denis Mugagga and Craig Pruess, directors of the Ganda Foundation, where they visited the Kawolo Hospital and Lugazi District Primary School. (see VIDEOS category on this website)

This primed the focus for the Ganda Foundation’s current work, and now the challenge is to spread the word far and wide and get as many supporters and donors as possible.
